Sinful Urges

Bodyguard Imara Baz is hired to work undercover for one the richest executives in the galaxy. It’s a dream job except for one hitch. Although she’s posing as the executive’s lover, it’s his personal bodyguard, a member of the Believers and sworn enemies of vampires that heats Imara’s blood.

Hunting Evil

Maxim is one of the best hunters in the universe and if he brings an evil shapeshifter to justice the bounty is huge. Maxim can’t trust Zoe, but he needs her to find his quarry. Although Maxim’s reputation is well known, Zoe will do anything to get out of prison, even deceive the sexy vampire.

The universe is vast, but finding a dragon on the auction block isn’t a usual occurrence for hunter Daecon Kreass. Arara is a magnificent dragon shifter and a stunning woman, but she’s also Zyafayan aristocracy. No matter how much she stirs his blood Daecon must keep her at arms length and deliver her to her royal family.

Reviews for Vazan Vampires

Praise for Sinful Urges by Patrice F, Joyfully Reviewed
“B.J. McCall kick starts the “S” in sexy and keeps her creative pen pressed down on the “Y” in Sinful Urges.”

Praise for Hunting Evil by Patrice F, Joyfully Reviewed
“I truly enjoy reading anything by BJ McCall. In Hunting Evil she has her wicked way with her characters, and the action is edgy, just the way I like it. “

Praise for Heartfire by Patrice F of Joyfully Reviewed
“I’m always mesmerized by the uninhibited sexiness of B.J. McCall’s characters and Daecon and Arara are no exception. This hot and heavy pair OD on adrenaline inside and outside the bedroom, or wherever they happen to be when the mood hits.”

Excerpt from Sinful Urges

Without her blaster, flash discs and pulse spheres, Imara Baz felt naked, stripped of the tools of her trade. The silky material of her emerald-green dress swirled around her knees as she waited on the roof of the Talus News building. The high-heeled sandals she wore were totally impractical for a bodyguard, but going undercover as Maine Montroyal’s lover demanded a flashy, sexy style. If her Vazan Shield co-workers got a glimpse of her shiny emerald-painted toenails she’d never live it down.

Within minutes an Experience Resorts corporate rover landed. A broad- shouldered man dressed in black and two droids, Montroyal’s personal security detail, were first to deplane. The man scanned the area, gave her a detailed once-over, before Montroyal disembarked.

Shorter and slimmer than the bodyguard, Montroyal straightened the lapels of his gray suit, smoothed an errant lock of black hair, and headed toward her. His stride, confident as his smile, was quick without appearing hurried. Pretty boy handsome with eyes as blue as a tropical sea, the executive took her hands in his and checked her out from head to toe.

“Darling.” His lips grazed both cheeks. “Imara Baz?”

“Reporting for duty, Sir,” she whispered back.

“You look amazing.”
He introduced the bodyguard. “Mr. Tanner.”

Brown eyes met hers, held, never drifting south to her obvious cleavage. “Ms. Baz.”

Tanner knew his place and respected Montroyal’s property but beneath that cool exterior Imara saw a warrior, ready to act with deadly force if necessary. Good qualities in a bodyguard.

Imara admired men like Tanner who were physically tough, action oriented and intense in every facet of their lives. Too bad she wasn’t partnered with Tanner instead of his boss. His high cheekbones, strong chin, and imperfect nose were appealing. Streaked by the sun, his thick and slightly unruly brown hair grazed his collar.

If his mind was half as fit as his body the job just might be interesting as well as profitable.

Montroyal addressed Tanner. “Imara is Vazan Shield. She’ll be traveling with me until the Purists threat is handled. She’ll remain undercover during the course of her stay.”

Tanner’s eyes went hard and his mouth thinned, his reaction so subtle most would have missed it. Why hadn’t Montroyal informed his personal bodyguard of her arrival? Or had the boss failed to mention she was Vazan? Not everyone liked having a vampire on the team.

Montroyal took her arm. “Ready, darling?”

When Tanner raised his right hand to signal the droids, Imara caught a glimpse of the Believers crux, a cross patterned after a constellation visible in the Earth sky, tattooed on his inner wrist and understood the bodyguard’s reaction. Throughout the galaxy she’d had to interact with people who disliked vampires. Tanner’s religious affiliation might add a layer of difficulty to the job and definitely dispelled any possibility of intimacy.

Too bad. The bodyguard had something that sizzled her senses and Imara had a gut feeling he didn’t spread it around as often as Montroyal. The press loved the handsome executive and often commented on his lovers. Imara had no intention of being a footnote in Montroyal’s love life.

Interview with Holly Hewson

HH: BJ, thank you so much for talking with us at TRS. Your featured book is Vazan Vampires. What can you tell us about this fabulous collection?

BJ: Vazan Vampires is a collection of three paranormal/sci-fi stories. If life exists on other planets I thought why not a vampire planet? Wouldn’t vampires make great bounty hunters? My stories are sci-fi. My vampires drink blood for nourishment, but sunlight doesn’t kill them and crosses won’t burn them. It’s fun to give a new twist to a vampire tale.

The collection includes Sinful Urges, Hunting Evil and Heartfire. Each story is about an employee of Vazan Shield, a security company based on the vampire planet of Vazan. Vazan Shield hires the best hunters and bodyguards. They go wherever the job takes them, even to the corners of the universe. Hire Imara, Maxim or Daecon. You won’t be disappointed.

HH: What can you tell us about each story?

BJ:  Sinful Urges is Imara’s adventure. She’s a hired bodyguard, assigned to protect Montroyal, the owner of a galactic holographic company, Experience Resorts. A new project, Spiritual Moments, is creating a universal buzz and has provoked a radical religious group to action. Imara must joined forces with Montroyal’s personal bodyguard to protect him. Kel Tanner is sexy as sin, but he’s also a member of the Believers, an Earth based, anti-vampire religion. She’s good at her job and so is Tanner. To get the job done, they must put prejudice aside and respect one another while dealing with an intense attraction that draws them together.

Hunting Evil is Maxim’s adventure. He’s a hunter determined to collect the huge bounty for Tarrand, an evil shapeshifter. To catch his prey, he needs Zoe Storm, Tarrand’s imprisoned lover. Confident he can handle anything the universe throws at him, Maxim arranges for Zoe’s release. Zoe is unlike any female he’s ever encountered. She’s feisty, sensual and sexy. Maxim doesn’t trust her, but he wants her, badly.

Heartfire is Deacon’s adventure. He’s a bounty hunter who saves a dragonshifter from the auction block. He’s attracted to the sexy shifter, but she’s royalty and off limits. Years later he’s partnered with a women who steals his heart. She’s everything he’s ever wanted, but his life is turned upside down when her true identity is revealed.

HH:  Which tale do you like best and why?

BJ: It’s difficult to choose. Sinful Urges challenged me the most because of the religious aspect underlining the romance between Kel and Imara. Hunting Evil was the most fun to write. Zoe really puts Maxim through the ringer. Heartfire was my first dragon shifter story and inspired me to include dragons in my paranormal wheelhouse.

HH: Which story do you think readers will like best?

BJ: All three stories received great reviews. They are sexy, fast-paced with action and adventure. Sci-fi and paranormal fans will not be disappointed.

HH: What else do you have in store for lucky readers?

BJ: I have several paranormal works in progress. Caught, the fifth book in my Dragonfire series was just released. I’m working on number six.

HH: What inspires you in your writing?

BJ: A character might pop into my head. Sometimes an idea might come from a news story or an event. A plot might emerge from a dream. I never know when lightning will strike.

HH: What do you enjoy when you’re not writing?

BJ: Most days I walk five miles. I love to read and enjoy different genres. I admit to spending most evenings watching TV or movies.

HH: What are you reading?

BJ: The Witching Hour by Marteeka Karland.

HH: What goals have you set for yourself this year?

BJ: I have several WIP and if I get them all finished I will keep my editors busy. And, I want to lose a few pounds.

HH: Where can readers find you online?

BJ: My website is I have a yahoo group, RedHotRomance.
