Reviews for Scent of a Wolf’s Mate

5-stars Hot! Hot! Hot!
“It is a very hot story. It will keep you reading to find out what happens next. It is a great read.” Krista Jo Ogle

Fun story to pass the afternoon away!
“The story is well written and flows rather nicely. This is my first experience reading the written works of Ms. Richards and I enjoyed it a great deal, I also look forward to reading more of Ms. Richards’ paranormal works. I would recommend this title if you are looking for a quick read in the PNR genre to pass the afternoon away.”  A. Fischer

Serena left the bedroom quietly, unsure of what she was going to find. Deciding to follow the aroma, she made her way to a kitchen equipped with every modern appliance you could imagine. Standing at the stove in low hanging pajama bottoms was a man. He was flipping bacon. Didn’t he know it was dangerous to cook without a shirt on?

She stood in the entranceway, slightly afraid and very confused. He was a big man. His dark hair was thick and wild, stopping at the top of his shoulders, shoulders that were wide and muscular. The muscles rippled in his back as he moved, and she could see his well-developed biceps and forearms.

A breeze rushed in through the open window over the sink. Serena watched the curtains dance wildly. She closed her eyes and inhaled deeply when the cool mountain air reached where she was standing. Wisps of hair moved about her face, and something else carried on the wind, something that spiked her awareness, flowing together with the scent of pines and wild lavender, and him, an untamed and basic entity that reached into her soul.

“I know you’re there,” he said without turning around. “Don’t come any closer.”

Well, that’s not very friendly. Serena didn’t know what to do at that point. She clutched his robe tighter against her. Without warning he turned, pinning his dark eyes on her. His rugged face was set as though in anger. “I hope you don’t mind that I borrowed your robe. I couldn’t find my clothes.” She tried not to let her gaze wander, but there was no way she could ignore his hard, defined Pecs and six-pack abs. The man was powerfully built and sinfully sexy.

His gaze moved over her. Serena took note of the tic moving in his tense jaw, and she tried to imagine what she’d done to upset him. What did he expect that she would walk out there in her birthday suit?

“That’s okay,” he finally spoke.

“Where am I?”

“Do you remember anything about last night?”

“Some of it. I was running and tripped on something. The last thing I remember is a wolf pinning me down. Did you kill it?”

“I took care of it.” His tone was short and to the point.

“There was another wolf—”

“I took care of him, too.” He moved to the sink, put the plug in, and turned on the water, then turned back to face her.

“What?” She was confused. “But how? I, I…” She didn’t know what to say. “I never saw you.” She hadn’t seen anyone. “I guess I owe you my life, then.” Serena offered him a smile, hoping to erase the unfriendly look on his face. “My name is Serena.” She stepped further into the kitchen and held out her hand.

He just stared at it for a long moment as if it were a snake, and then finally said his name. “Connor.”

Interview with Holly Hewson

HH:  Tory, thank you so much for talking with us at TRS. Thank you for having me. Your featured book is Scent of a Wolf’s Mate. Where did you get the idea for this sexy tale?

TR: It couldn’t possibly be from all the syfy I watch, could it? lol Actually, I’m a big fan of Bitten. But even before that I’ve wanted to try my hand a writing a werewolf romance. I enjoy reading shifter books and as a writer I thought, why not? Give it a try! You never know what you can do if you don’t try. Scent of a Wolf’s Mate is my second paranormal and so far, along with The Mating Ritual, have done very good.

HH:  What do you like best about Serena and what will readers like about her?

TR: Well, we’re both animal lovers. I think readers will like the fact that she’s independent and not afraid to accept changes. I mean, it’s pretty frightening to just pick up and move to a new place for the love of your work. Serena’s a wildlife vet, and she just couldn’t turn down the offer of her dream job at the Savage Hills Wolf Sanctuary. Her biggest challenge is accepting that there are werewolves in the world.

HH: What do you like best about her alpha and why will readers love him?

TR: He’s big, passionate and fiercely protective of Serena. From the moment she enters his territory his mating instincts go into overdrive. What complicates his desire to give her time to get used to his werewolf status is that she’s in heat. Readers might like how he controls his wolf from taking over when he’s in lust with Serena.

HH: What makes this work different than anything you’ve written so far?

TR: It’s my second paranormal, and my first werewolf story.

HH: What else do you have in store for lucky readers?

TR: I’m in the process of finishing up my first series, Serve and Submit! It’s a collection of five, 6000-7000 word stories where the hero serves the public in some way. Each erotic story is stand alone and doesn’t have to be read in any particular order. Pulled Over and On Fire are already out. Under Cover, Party Time and Lovers come next. I have a huge surprise for readers in the last story, Lovers. It’s the continuation of a story that came out last year.

HH: What inspires you in your writing?

TR: So many things. Dreams, real life, something on TV, something in a story I’ve read, a good storm. It just takes a seed, a tiny thought, to develop it into a story.

HH: What do you enjoy when you’re not writing?

TR: Spending time with my family and friends. I’m a home-body and like calm and quiet. As I get older I want less. I like my safe, little woman-cave that I share with my four cats in my daughter’s home. I have a good life.

HH:   What are you reading?

TR: Nothing right now.

HH: What goals have you set for yourself this year?

TR: With regard to writing, I’d like to put out one story per month, or at least 12 before the end of the year. I didn’t get one out in January but two came out in February. So far I have up until July covered. Personally, I’m hoping to make it home to Maine for a few days. My family is from there.

HH: Where can readers find you online?
